As an American, getting to Cuba, in and out of the U.S., and then capturing great video without a professional permit, the project has been filled with obstacles & hardships, however rewarding after meeting many new Cuban friends, finding deep cultural experiences and even joy.
What drives me to complete the project "Viva Cuba!" is my commitment to the intelligent, talented, friendly & warm Cuban people who tell their many stories, so rich in culture, family, art, music and life. As big a goal is to dispel the myth often portrayed in the American press of Cuba and its people.
All music video edits on this page were given to the bands to promote themselves. Final edits for these Music Videos for "Viva Cuba" programming will include additional scenes of lifestyles, people and the musicians from interviews already captured. To date there has been over 600 Hours of Video Captured!
Even when you watch these quick 1st pass edits you truly get the interesting perspectives and feelings of the Cuban people that are so strong in mind & spirit, amidst the pain of deprived living under the U.S. economic embargo and travel restrictions for Americans.
Listen to "Janet-Jazz Singer", "Yasik-Trumpet Man" and "Cuban Dylan" for soul, Pedro for a self-taught street musician, and heavy metal band leader "Ms. Fanny", who started the band "Hypnosis", with her $8,000 winnings from women's karate event in the Pan American Games.
The unique, moving and complex stories of the musicians, artists, craftsmen, writers and all the truly talented, wonderful and warm people of Cuba is what my film "Viva Cuba!" is all about ... Soon for the World to see and be amazed by Cuba and its people..
